Gmail had a problem but we still don’t have a complete information about what caused it but we know that this problem meant the loss of 150,000 email accounts (0.08% of Gmail users).

Currently, the Google engineers are working to restore access to all emails, files and contact details of each Gmail account that was affected. From the panel of Google applications (Google Apps Status Dashboard ) this situation can be confirmed.

A similar problem of “lost accounts” suffered the email service from Microsoft, Hotmail, during the first days of 2011. However, at that time only 17,000 accounts were affected but in 3 to 4 days all users were able to regain access to their accounts and full data .

To avoid the consequences of events like this, we have Gmail Backup that allows us to back up all our Gmail account.

This new error from a Web service such as Gmail, again places the emphasis on one of the weaknesses of a model such as cloud computing.

“Coincidentally,”this problem comes just a month after Google released some information saying that its email platform is 32 times more reliable than other systems.
